Hold Me by Nada Adel Sobhi - Poem

Hold me close,
Pat me on my back,
Kiss my hair,
Let me feel you close

I need you!

Calm my burning nerves,
My tempestuous emotions,
Reign in my held back tears
Or let them flow
And kiss them away

Hold Me
When no else would

Ease my shaking bones
My unknown fear

Hold me!

Let your love wash over me,
Let my burdens fall,
Shatter to the ground.

Let your light warm me,
Your understanding, engulf me,
Your love, hold me tight

Let all the masks fall,
All the hardships fade,
All the tension wither.

Hold me!

Wake me from the darkness
To your light,
Your love

My raging mind,
My shaking bones,
My burning tears

Calm them.
Calm Me.

Hold me!

And let me sleep in your arms
Until my tempest subsides,
Till I can stand on my own feet,
Till all my fears and worries wear away.

Calm Me!
Hold Me!

When… Thoughts/Poem by Nada Adel Sobhi

When…

When the world conspires to stop you from being happy,
When everyone seems to know everything,
When they want to show you you're ignorant,
When everyone puts you down without a remedy,
When people come and go unaware of your inner turmoil,
When they see your tears and ask if you're happy
When they see you crying but just walk out like you're nothing
When your problems are your own, but others' are yours as well,
When your ship begins to sink, and none seems to be a worthy aid,
When everyone seems content with their lives, they move on to yours,
When people feel you're happy, so they direct their energies to making you miserable
When your happiness is not enough to steer in the direction you seek,
When your happiness is seen as a selfish desire,
When you want something so bad, everyone decides it's not right for you – as if they know,
When people decide they can foresee your future, but they can't even see your present,

When… when… when…
The list is endless

When you no longer want to put up with people's shit,
When all the world can rot for all you care
When your heart turns to stone,
When your anger builds,
When you truly become selfish

What will the world and all those people do then?
(Carry on with their BS)

Treading Forward - poem

The world is dark,
I'm on a bridge
But can't see ahead.
It looks down-trodden
Like my thoughts.

There are planks,
But not regular, continuous.

I turn around;
No going back.
Where was back?
Where did I come from?
How did I end up here?
Where is here?

I look forward;
It’s the only way.

I tread carefully,
Fearful of a fall
Into the abyss of the unknown.

My mind
Is numb, racing.
I try to block out the demons
Of fear and uncertainty,
Those that have haunted
My days and nights.

The bridge carries on.
How long will I keep walking?
No end in sight.

Something flutters in my periphery.
I look and nearly fall.
I stand still,
Only to be surrounded by silence.

Was it a bird?

I begin to walk again,
Careful to step on the planks
And skip the empty ones.

Another flutter,
I hear it but ignore it.
The sound grows louder,
The wind picks up.
A flock of birds?
I try not to look back.

Louder and louder;
I feel the bridge will crumble beneath me.
Will I be lost, forever?

Lost in my thoughts,
I almost fall.

The planks have ended,
Leaving me in the middle of nowhere.

The fluttering is louder,
I venture a look behind.
"They're not birds," I say,
"Books! Sweet glorious books!"
My heart flutters too.

I welcome them;
And they land one by one,
Forming new planks in my bridge.

Shoulders squared,
Faith restored,
I continue on my way.
The path may be unclear,
But my feet are firmer now.

I carry on forwards.

Open the Door by Nada Adel Sobhi – Poem

Open the door
Let in the light,
Sing me a song,
Hold me tight.

Whisper softly in my ear,
Read my a tale or two,
Drive away my fear,
As you hold me close to you.

I fear the day more than the night
I fear the world when it says
I'm wrong and it's right.

Hold me close,
Don’t let go.
The world is changing,
Don't let me go.

Confusion, anger, lying and defeat
Slowly eat my shell, my sanity,
I cannot stand these cheats;
I fear an upcoming calamity.

Open the door
Let in the light,
Sing me a song,
Hold me tight.

Raise me high above the ground
Away from the world, away from it all.
Hold me close, so I don't hear a sound
Hold me tight and don't let me fall.

Wrap me in your light,
Teach me what is right.
Tell me what I need to do,
To be a better person, a better you.

Awaken my soul, my heart,
My body and mind;
Awaken my senses, give them a start,
Teach me how to be human again.

Open the door
Let in the light,
Sing me a song,
And hold me tight.

Anger's Children - Book Review

Anger’s Children by K.D. Rose
Publication date: 22 May, 2015
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Synopsis:
Strap on your seatbelt for this whirlwind of short stories that take you out of this world—literally!
-A goddess on a mission or a young adult growing up? In the paranormal world, who’s to know?
-Covert Action is supposed to mean “secret” but in a world of regulation, just what is everyone going so far out of their way to hide? Sex is a dangerous game. More than anyone could have bet.
-What if life was as simple as a game of dice or poker? What if human’s lived their lives unaware that they were pawns, played on a board by those who were just a little more than human? Would fate intervene? Would love mean anything? If you were a God among humans, wouldn’t you be just maybe, slightly, bored?
Life ending games? Or are they just the beginning? Dangerous. Risqué. A catch. There’s always a catch. Three tales that will blow your mind. – Note: My mind was far from blown and not in a totally positive way.

Anger's Children by K. D. Rose is collection of three short stories. Judging this book or writing its review is particularly hard, since I hated one of the stories, loved another and one remained in between like and dislike.
I must note, however, that the synopses for the stories were more interesting than most of the stories themselves. Sex is the focus of the stories; some of it was more disgusting than enjoyable.

The stories are not related and can be read in any order. In the first part or story, titled "Under the Shadow of Wings", I did not enjoy the narration one bit. It felt like bits and pieces were scattered and there was no fixed timeline. Also, there was a mention of mighty sword at the beginning but it was never referred to again, which was strange. There was also a transfer of power but there was no rising tension to meet this power surge.
In addition, contradictory tones in some parts, including "She had already won. She had just come back to collect." It's like winning and collecting – we don't know what exactly, probably souls, except that they belong to her and "all her dead relatives" – are being justified.
The story quickly shifts to impossible sex in an airplane restroom, which is tiny for one person, let alone two with one of them having wings! I also found the ideas she thinks are from her dead relatives rather confusing.
"Under the Shadow of Wings" was an overall weird story and I really disliked it. It was the opening story and seriously put me off the rest of the book for a bit.

The second story titled "Eyes Only" is considerably long compared to the first and last ones and makes up the bulk of the book. It is also the most enjoyable of the three.
It is a story within a story within a story with a spectacular twist at the end, making it far more complex than the other two.
With also a lot of sex, "Eyes Only" is bursting with suspense. It boasts several bits of imagery, including: "Like a junkie, my addiction to her had galloped out of control."
"Eyes Only" was not free of confusion, however. Still it is mostly enjoyable and interesting.

The third and final story in Anger's Children is "The Dark Man"
"You remain a poignant gossamer of idealistic dreams instead of a champion of organised power – an actual force to be reckoned with." – these words echo at the end of the story as well, resulting in an unexpected and intriguing ending.
As a reader, I wanted to know who the characters were. Are they gods? Or are they pawn in a game for the gods?
Even though the characters have names, we don't know anything about them, except that they have met – and had sex – several times before and that they have been around for centuries.
I also felt the storyline and timeline were quite vague.

Overall rating: Again hard to judge but 2-2.5 stars.
Note: I received a free copy via Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.

Twisting Soul

Lips parched,
Heart sullen,
Soul uncalm,
Mind lost;

Standing, sitting,
Twisting, turning,
Raging, burning,
Grieving, broken.

Right and wrong
Intertwined?
All is a blur,
An unstable blur.

Thousands marching,
From every street.
Chants growing louder,
All for you, Egypt.

Gripped
By fear and anxiety,
By indecisiveness,
And confusion.

They’re all sure
Of their demands;
But I’m not.
I’m lost.

Hope and worry,
Love and hate
All mingle
With bits of indifference;

All coursing through me,
All at once;
As a dam opens
Before a river.

Right and wrong
Blurred around me,
Inside me.
I shake and shiver.

I long for a guiding beam
To spring from the clouds,
To clear my head and heart,
To ease my mind and soul.
