The wind in my face

The music in my ears

The waves at my feet

And the sun gazing upon us all…

My definition of summer

The tune changes

Loreena McKennit fills my ears

And I know the magic will begin

Its power passing

From my music player

To the wind and water

I close my eyes

As the pen moves of its own accord

She too speaks of the sea

The water flows at my feet                            

Keeping me cool

Against the curious sun

I drop my pen

As my senses become lost

In the beauty before and around me

Wrap me in your cold arms

For the sun scorches my skin

Drag me into your dreamy depths

I'm a daughter of water,

Daughter of the mighty sea

Your melody flows over your waves

To my longing ears

I gaze upon at the raging blue

But when I close my eyes

My vision clears

And in the black background of my lids

I see the fish, the dolphins,

The pearls in their pretty pink shells,

The mermaids gliding, waving at me

I'm a daughter of the mighty sea

And the journey to your dazzling depths,

I shall gladly take.

Takhayyal Writing Prompt 89: #amwriting by the Sea

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's MONTHLY picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal/Imagine.

I honestly didn't know what to post this month. Kept going through lots of pictures, some on my phone, some on my computer, Pinterest, Facebook…

Then I thought I could use two images I took with my phone that well I think might be inspiring. September is when people are leaving the beach behind and getting ready for school, so here are two images for the hearts we're leaving by the sea (I know I am) with a final dose of salty sea spray.

I've also heard or seen a few people who dream of being able to be inspired to write by the sea; this is for YOU!

Let it Rip! - Poem by Nada Adel Sobhi

"Let us burn!

Let us burn!"

So the woman sings

Her voice ringing

In my ears

Before me the sea rises

Can it hear her too?

The music calms

So does the blue

In anticipation

I expect

Only to beat

At the immovable rocks

Once the beat picks up

"Let us burn!"

But I hear the sea

It says

"LET IT RIP!"

Takhayyal Writing Prompt 86: Raging Sea

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's monthly picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal/Imagine.

I was a bit stumped with what to post for June, the first month of summer for a lot of schools here, although I must note that sweltering heat has already started here (Egypt). We had a couple of 40-Celsius weeks already and they call it spring!

Anyways, this is an image I took last year of the Mediterranean Sea towards the end of the season. The sea had gnawed at the rocks and it was impossible to swim at this point.

I hope you find inspiration in this sea as it has inspired me year after year.

Red nails

Break the blue calm

Like tiny roses

In a sea of green

Colours

They paint my world

Breathe new life

Into my lungs

I close my eyes

Feel the cold air

Fill my being

Those moments of life

Lapses of perfection

In a world of endless

Hustle and bustle

Sunlight sifts

Through clouds and mountains high

The wind blows on my face,

My lips can almost taste

The saltiness of my surroundings

I close my eyes again

Then open them to see

Red nails

On a sea of brown rocks

Covered by a hue of greyish blue

Awaken! Muse - Poem

Today, I'm sharing a new poem I wrote, where I call on my Muse to wake up and inspire me. The first image is of the original poem (nothing crossed out, lucky me!), and in case you can't read cursive, I'm including the typed version below it.

(Not my best handwriting, since this was an on-the-spot thing)

Awaken! Muse

The red sun sinks

In the mighty sea

Some say

Blood has been spilt,

Some say

Romance shall be born,

But I say:

Awaken Muse of the Night

Awaken!

Raging Waters by Nada Adel Sobhi - Poem

The sea is high,

Fury runs in its veins.

The colour

Deadly beautiful,

Calling swimmers to their doom.

Anxious,

Angry

Are the waves.

"Rage forth unto these mortals!

Rise! Rise!

And show no mercy!

Let them know fear."

I can hear Poseidon howl

From the unseen depths

"Let them see and feel

Our mighty fury!"

The colour seduces me.

But I know better.

Even a mermaid

Would lay low

From the mighty king's wrath.

And yet,

I cannot keep my eyes off it;

Never seen this hue of deadly turquoise.

Schools of fish

Rooted in their place,

The current too strong

Despite their number.

The colour calls to me,

But the waves warn me.

'Not today, little one.

We have no control!'

The wind blows strong,

From all directions.

A sail boat would flip over,

None to survive.

No breeze,

Nor water spray,

But bellowing wind,

A scorching sun,

And a deadly wave

Drenches me from head to toe.

I will heed your words.

"Come mortals!

Face me!

Face your demons,

In my once clean waters!"
