Through high wind
And a bloody red sky
The Ship of Death sails
A beast of the seven seas
Traversing perilous waters
Carrying nightmares
From centuries past
Come high water
Come rain, lightning, and
thunder
Come bellowing beasts
From the dark depths
Nothing shall stand
Before the Ghost Ship of Death

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Nada, for sharing this really amazing piece 😍 I do love this one specifically because of my dark taste for things, as you know. 😁 Somehow, one is reminded of the ominous atmosphere of Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner, until they explore the symbolic possibilities. The way I personally look at it, a ship storming through dangerous waters, in a setting plagued with “rain, lightening and thunder,” does invoke something about endurance or audacity: One is sufficiently laden with dismal memories and painful experiences, yet they choose to proceed forward, no matter what uncertainties cloud their fate, no matter what fears materialise, and no matter what pains the future could inflict upon them. However, could it be more than just endurance? Vengeance, indifference, maybe lack of empathy?
ReplyDeleteHi Nada. Thanks for sharing this. Inspiring despite its dark theme. Good match for the picture.
ReplyDeleteHey Cheryl
DeleteThank you for taking the time to read this and comment. Highly appreciate it.
Dark images tend to have an inspiring effect from time to time.
Nicely framed exactly within the premises. Chills felt and reign of terror style of imagery well set with the timing. Like it. Take care sweet writer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and commenting Ali. Glad it gave you "chills!"
