Takhayyal writing prompt 107: Take Me There

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's monthly picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal.

Arabic for Imagine, Takhayyal is a challenge for writers of all ages and genres; a place to spark creativity and explore new genres.

I hope you are all staying safe and taking all necessary precautions. The world is beginning to open and realize that we will have to live with this corona virus but it's important to remember that we need to take care of our health no more than ever.

As the world opens up, people, myself included, feel like Summer 2020 will be a different experience. That said, I always look at pictures I took on my phone to transport me to places.

That's why when I saw this picture posted by friend, author, and poet Erin Al Mehairi, I immediately asked for it and decided it would be the writing prompt for June.

It spoke me to and I hope you find it inspiring!

So without further ado, meet the June writing prompt…

Takhayyal writing prompt 106: Red Sea Dreams

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's monthly picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal or Imagine.

Arabic for Imagine, Takhayyal is a challenge for writers of all ages and genres; a place to spark creativity and explore new genres.

Finally April is here, which where I'm from means lots of wind and dust and in other parts of the world, it's when flowers bloom. But considering the on-going coronavirus pandemic, even if there are blooming flowers somewhere no one will be out to enjoy them.

That said April is National Poetry Month. So combining poetry month with home-confinement for many across the world, and some reports that the earth is finally breathing since humanity is cooped up, I think it is fitting to have another nature-inspired writing prompt.

This time I'm featuring photography from friend Sara Shaker. You can follow her on Instagram for more photography and nature photography.

I was with her when this picture was taken in Abou Galloum, the Red Sea, Egypt. It's a gorgeous location for snorkeling and diving. Once this pandemic recedes, I highly recommend you visit and take a swim.

So, look at the image, there are corals beneath the water, and let your imagination take flight. What happens beneath the pristine waters of the Red Sea? If you were there right now, what would you do? Do you have fins to swim with the fish?

Whether you write short stories, flash fiction, poetry, thoughts, an imaginary situation, an artistic thought; you name it and write it.

Whatever you can write, Takhayyal is a place for all creatives to have fun and imagine.

Leave your piece in the comments below or post it on your blog and share the link here. All pieces will get comments and be shared on social media.

Update: I'm keeping this prompt as the image for May 2020 since I'm a little pressed for time this month. New image will be released in June.

General rules:
·        No nudity, violence, and/or abuse.

Takhayyal Writing Prompt 100! Halloween

Welcome HALLOWEEN! And welcome Ladies and Gentlemen, Ghosts, Vampires, Werewolves, Fae, Zombies, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; WELCOME EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal!

The season of magic is BACK!

There's something about Halloween that gets me excited, possibly because I like all things fantasy and October translates into fantasy and fun for me.

I won't keep you. The image is simple but you can image the magic wielder is a guy instead of a woman... Look at the image and let inspiration flow from your brain to your fingertips (and the screen)

Not sure who's responsible for this image, I found it online. It's not mine.

Feel free to mix up or combine this image with the one from August, titled Magic Book, also about magic and possibly spells.

Arabic for Imagine, Takhayyal is a means to find inspiration and spark creativity and writing.

Takhayyal writing prompt no. 95: Unleash Spring

While T.S. Eliot believed April was "the cruelest month" I think we can all beg to differ as we shed of the cold months and venture into some warmth. Hmmm?

And for this occasion of warmth and freedom, I'm featuring artwork (inspired by an original image) from my friend Mona Morsy.

What will this image inspire you to write?

Takhayyal writing prompt 94: Wailing Winter Wonderland

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's MONTHLY picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal or Imagine.

Arabic for Imagine, Takhayyal is a challenge for writers of all ages and genres; a place to spark creativity and explore new genres.

For this month's prompt, I'm borrowing the image from cozy mystery author Amy M. Reade, whom I've previously featured on Nadaness In Motion in a guest post on writing titled "Researching a Book in a Far-Flung Setting."

The image just spoke to me – probably because I've never been in a country with snow before… I think many across the United States have seen storms this year, so this is your opportunity to tell the world about them and shed them off onto the page (and this blog post).

Oh, and the prompt title "Wailing Winter Wonderland" was a line in Kamelot's amazing song "Temples of Old."

So, are you ready for the writing prompt?

Grab your pen and let's WRITE!

Takhayyal Writing Prompt 93: Dark or Magical Love?

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, Artists, Poets, Writers, Authors, Dreamers, Friends and Family; Welcome EVERYONE to Nadaness In Motion's MONTHLY picture-prompt writing challenge Takhayyal/Imagine.

Welcome the month of love and romance, or as many people in Egypt believe… a short month that's heavy on the heart and an overall bad omen and experience… I don't know about you but that sounds like the premises for dark romance writing or horror pieces.

Hence, I think you'll enjoy the Takhayyal writing prompt for February, which gems and precious stones designer and artist Wild Nocturna has kindly agreed to let me use for February.

The Stone – Poem by Nada Adel Sobhi

They gather round
Humming,
A faint musical sound

Clap-ta-thum
Clap-ta-thum

A lone woman sings
Stars, hidden behind clouds, appear
Others; parents, children
All gather in a circle of magic

In the midst of a milling crowd
The songstress
Unravels a majestic stone,
A ruby, the size of a full-grown palm

Breaths caught,
Hearts drum
With the ever-growing hum

Clap-ta-thum
Clap-ta-thum

She sings to the world
Of the living
Those that have lived
And those yet to live

Some make out her words
Some don't
She goes on
Uninterrupted
Untethered
Tales must be told

Her song hitches into a whistle-like note
Her body moves beneath the unmoving moon
Her pitch reaches its full strength

Then she stops
Hands raised,
She takes the strength of all who'd gathered
And brings it all down
Into the magnificent ruby

Its light hue
Burns into the flaming red

A red
People far and wide could see

A stone
Of strength
Power
Virtue
Magic

She turns to the assembly

"This stone,
I gift to you.
May its strength
And magic
Heal you.
But first,
You must believe!"

The women hum
Clap, and with their legs, ta-thum
As the songstress disappears into the night

Hum, clap-ta-thum
Hum, clap-ta-thum

"The Stone" is inspired by a scene in THE TIDES BETWEEN by Elizabeth Jane Corbett, an interesting historical fiction about how fairy tales can help people on a journey.
