Awaken to the Magic by Nada Adel Sobhi - Poem #Takhayyal

The moon is full
My spell complete
Awaken on the morrow
And taste defeat

I walk my head held high
My soul unencumbered.
My magic is done,
Whilst you've slumbered

Without a care in the world
I walk forward, no looking back
The sun will rise, you will awaken
To realise, your life is no longer on track

You thought you could break this witch,
No darling, not I!
Sleep softly, sleep tight tonight,
From tomorrow, life will pass you by.

The moon is full
My spell complete
Awaken on the morrow
And taste defeat

The Sapling (Pantoum)

Into a life of misery you’ve been hurled
Like a sapling in a raging storm,
Fighting for your life; it’s you against the world,
Your emotions, your beliefs against the norm.

Like a sapling in a raging storm,
Fighting, winning once and losing twice;
Your emotions, your beliefs against the norm,
In every fight, you lose a part of you; a slice.

Fighting, winning once and losing twice;
While the world continues and carries on
In every fight, you lose a part of you; a slice.
Few will notice when you’re gone.

While the world continues and carries on,
You sink in an abyss of darkness and ire.
Few will notice when you’re gone.
For them and for yourself you’ll need to find your fire.

You sink in an abyss of darkness and ire,
Your emotions, your beliefs against the norm,
For those who care and for yourself you’ll need to find your fire.
Like a sapling in a raging storm.

In the Confines of the Mind (Pantoum)

In the confines of the mind,
Linger words and emotions unspoken.
Lying silently, awaiting more of their kind,
Till they burst forth, uncontrolled, unbroken.

Lingering words and emotions unspoken,
They wait and wait, biding their time,
Then burst forth, uncontrolled, unbroken.
They roam, rush and rage, like crime.

They wait and wait, biding their time,
Brewing within, building momentum,
They roam, rush and rage, like crime,
Knowing no barrier, spreading like venom.

Brewing within, building momentum,
Tension, anger and frustration rise,
Knowing no barrier, spreading like venom,
The poison rages till the victim dies.

Tension, anger and frustration rise,
Black clouds gather across the skies,
As the poison rages till the victim dies,
With no one to hear their agony-filled cries.

Black clouds gather across the skies,
The wind wails in the distance,
With no one to hear the victim’s agony-filled cries,
The mind desperately calls for deliverance.

The wind wails in the distance;
Nerves and emotions unstable as the sea,
The mind desperately calls for deliverance,
Reverberating its misery, its agony.

Nerves and emotions unstable as the sea,
A black magic flows through the veins,
Reverberating with misery, with agony
The body, heart and mind, it claims.

A black magic flows through the veins,
Patiently slow, building darkness within;
The body, heart and mind, it claims,
Till all that the shell hides is sin.

Patiently slow, building darkness within;
Soon, it will take over and control,
Soon the shell will hide nothing but sin,
Then it will have reached its goal.

Soon, it will take over and control
That blackened body, mind and soul;
Soon, it will have reached its goal,
Then the victim will obey its call.

That blackened body, mind and soul,
Will lie silently awaiting more of its kind,
Awaiting Darkness’ deadly call,
In the confines of the mind.

The Witch's Song

Melodies whisper in the distance,
Metal upon metal playing softly;
Magical moments linger in the wind.

Upon the grass, I sit.
No candles need to be lit.

A woman's voice echoes
As nature plays its music,
Reverberating far and wide.

Fire, Water, Air and Earth,
I summon thee,
Magic is my right by birth,
Hear my plea!

The metallic music mingles
With my spell,
The sound of Water
Climbing up the nearest well;
The Earth shakes underneath.
The Wind disturbs the trees behind.
Fire warms me from within,
The melody echoes like a Siren!

In my self-induced trance,
I begin my heart-sung,
Air-borne melodic dance.

Metal upon metal,
The music grows louder still,
As the Elements bend to my will,
Indulging in the heightened power
They possess whilst running through my veins.

Lightning burns the sky,
As my chant and dance
Echo underneath.

The Water, the Earth
I feel under my bare feet;
The Wind, the Fire
Waltz in a feat!

Fire, Water, Air and Earth,
I summon thee,
Magic is my right by birth,
Hear my plea!

Metal upon metal,
My song echoes in the wind,
Metal upon metal,
The Witch rises again!

A New Day, a New Egypt

Flags flood the streets
People rejoicing in fleets.
Music and dance fill the air,
They celebrate without a care,
As though victory they won.
Tomorrow rises the sun,
On a new Egypt,
So they hope, so they believe.
There is still work to be done,
Many difficulties yet to come.

Of hope and freedom, they sing.
Egypt’s streets, with joy, shake and ring.

Tonight, the night does not creep
On the country that does not sleep.
Cairo, Suez and Alexandria,
Qaliyubiya, Sharqia, Daqahlia,
In twenty-six governorates,
Millions stand at the gates
Of a new dawn, a new day,
A new shade of grey,
With a new hope, a new choice,
The proud people of Egypt rejoice.

Of hope and freedom, they sing.
Egypt’s streets, with joy, shake and ring.

Tonight Egyptians sleep
As dawn begins to creep.
Tonight, with pride Egypt rests,
After almost three years of unrest.
Tomorrow, the birds rise from their nests
Tomorrow, begins the test
To see how fare we
With what we call ‘victory’.
The sun will shine
On a land Egyptians call “Mine”.

Of hope and freedom, they sing.
Egypt’s streets, with joy, shake and ring.

Reign of Fire

At last, my reign of fire has begun!
The world as you know it will be undone!
Burn precious land! Burn!
To rule you, has come my turn.

Green is not my colour,
But blazing red is.
Come, has humanity’s hour,
To see how devastating life will be.

The time has come for them to see,
The beauty of mortality.
Wallow not, for you have all been consumed by your greed,
Now you sow the thorns of your seeds.

Plenty, the world gave you,
But repay it kindly you did not.
Now brace yourselves for what it will give you,
You idle, cunningly conniving lot.

The fields of green will burn red,
‘We have it under control,’ you said;
The seas of blue will turn black with rage,
And my fury will last for an age!

Then, if you live still,
We shall see what becomes of your will.
Will you end the storm and learn?
Or shall we annihilate your spawn?!

Burn precious land! Burn!
Show these men the choler in your core!
Burn mighty land! Burn!
Let’s see if these creatures have a heart or will exist no more!

Burn furious land! Burn!
See them crumble; it’s their turn!
Burn bitter land! Burn!
In this age, all life, to ashes, will burn!

Ares and Mars by Nada Adel Sobhi - Poem

It is on the battle field,
Where each god holds a shield,
At the other, looking viciously,
Awaiting the signal to attack ferociously!

Ares, Greek god of war!
Mars, Roman god of war!
Both gods of destruction,
Their wrath makes choking combustion!

The signal sounds,
And the battle begins,
And all around
Are gods drinking gin.

Slash!
Thrash!
Cheers!
Jeers!

Both are immortal,
And so do not die.
Suddenly, opens a portal
In the middle of the sky.

Zeus and Jupiter
Have taken a decision:

“Each would rule
In his own way,
Whether petty and cruel
Or caring and loving play.
Let them rule as should
And aid would come if could,
Whether they ask for it
Or work with their own wit!”

So, the battle ends,
And the gods of war
Become the best of friends!
And from afar sounds their roar!

Now they roam to destroy,
For the world is their toy!
To murder, burn and kill.
These, they do with their utmost skill!

So beware world,
Or be set aflame,
For Ares and Mars
Have made you their game!

Masquerade by Nada Adel Sobhi - Poem

Vibrant, chic dress,
Gems sparkling in the night,
Dressed to impress,
To catch sight.

She enters the ballroom;
Her face you cannot see,
Like a flower she blooms;
Tonight, your princess, she'll be.

Of gold, of red and of green,
Of many colours is her mask,
Of blue, of silver, even aquamarine;
To dance, her, you want to ask.

Her face you cannot see,
Who is she?
A mystery!
Your princess, she'll be.

You dance; you look into her eyes,
An enigma she remains;
At the end you bow and rise,
To see her disappear in flames.

She vanished as she had come;
Taking your breath away.
For the night, she was the one,
In the end, the butterfly-masked girl fluttered away…

Her face, you did not see,
Her name, you did not catch;
A creature, a mystery
That none can solve nor catch!
