Building Your
Author Platform by Tiffany Shand is a concise, to-the-point book with
each page covering important information for both new and established authors.
The 28-page
book – or pamphlet – covers a number of issues authors face when starting out, or
at least when it comes to the world of social media.
Shand builds
on her own mistakes and misconceptions when she started out building her own
author platform, allowing her to tell the reader what she has done and how this
has worked – or hasn't worked – out for her.
For me, there
were a lot of things that I knew from reading, researching and from studying
digital marketing.
"An author platform, as the name suggests, is a launch site
from where all your book marketing takes place…from a website, social media to
readership…It is a direct link to your readers."
Shand also
tackles the pros and cons of several aspects of creating an author platform
such as having your own website and even provides links to help authors build
their own sites or blogs.
There is a
whole chapter dedicated to social media and another to the different types of
e-book retailers.
"An author platform is something that is forever growing
and changing and something you will never stop building. It's part of your
long-term strategy and almost everything you do related to your book
business."
According to
the cover this is book 1 in a series on the same topic of creating an author
platform.
Overall, Building
Your Author Platform by Tiffany Shand is a highly informative, recommended
and encouraging book that can at least put authors on the right track towards
building their name and brand.

Earlier in
2017, I reviewed Tiffany Shand's Betrayed by Blood, the first instalment in The Amaranthine Chronicles.
I'll
also be taking part in a tour for Shand in June – my stop is Tuesday, 13 June –
where I feature the author's new book and an interview.

received a free copy of Building Your Author Platform by Tiffany Shand
