Twice Upon A Time by Hope Irving
Publication Date: 31 October, 2015
Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance
Blurb:
Once upon a time, there was the wandering soul of Morgann, an 8th century Irish calligrapher-monk longing to be reunited with his soul mate. Deirdre was his forbidden love, a witch with whom he wrote a coveted book.
Under her spell, the souls of the star-crossed lovers travel from bodies to bodies until they find each other. Eventually.
That became his quest: unearth her new body and trigger her memory, for she is clueless about whom she once was. Unfortunately their story didn't get a chance to become a fairy tale yet it still turned out as a famous urban legend referred as The Black Angel Book.
Twice upon a time, not so long ago, there was me, rational and devastated Rose. I needed to get a grip, said my French mum after my year of numbness due to a painful break-up that led me to cut my wrist daily, to feel something, anything.
So she sent me off to the free-spirited village of Provincetown, Massachusetts, to spend the summer with my American relatives. And just like that, I wasn’t myself any longer. Because someone pulled me out of the darkness and bewitched me, somehow.
I couldn’t wait to jump his bones… but why was he holding back?
He couldn’t wait to welcome me into his world… but was I ready to question my convictions and acknowledge that my self-inflicted cuts were now healing in record time?
How could I have imagined he was longing for his own unorthodox fairytale to come true? Frantically.

I'm bringing in two short excerpts for this one.
Centuries ago Deirdre got killed. Centuries ago Morgann was left for dead. Since then, it is revenge his soul is after; my soul. For Rose to trust me, comprehend the depth of my feelings and remember the truth, I need to confide in her and let her know what we are.
What I am. Otherwise it will never work out. I don’t want her to feel pressured because of this spell. I have no idea about the extent of our free will in that story. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve accepted my fate long ago. I pray for her to do the same. I’m convinced we belong together.
And another:
“Please, say something!” The tension running through his body was palpable as he begged me then yelled bitterly at the door, “Coming…”
I remained silent, unable to articulate a word, let alone a sentence, numb.
Turning back to me, he asked, “Rose, are you okay?” I shook my head and shrugged, my eyes itchy, staring blankly at him.
Of course I wasn’t okay.
I didn’t want to face the others. I wanted to be with him and make it up to him. “Please, answer me…” His voice sweet.
Another knock on the door, his rocky voice let out another angry yell combined with a curse.
His tone changed back to sweet, addressing me. “Rose, please. I need to know if we’re good before I get that fucking door.” Oh, he was either mad or worried because swearing wasn’t his thing.
“We’re good,” I managed to say, getting out of my trance.
Why am I lying?

Twice Upon A Time is a New Adult Paranormal Romance. The book is an unorthodox
fairytale about fate, soulmates and star-crossed lovers.
When I was a little girl, I loved fairytales. The dream they
brought and the lesson they taught. Growing up, I realized that princes in
tights weren’t actually my thing although I still wanted stories that brought
mystery and magic in day-to-day life. That’s what drawn me to witches, vampires
and the X-files. And since I’ve always had eclectic tastes and couldn’t stop
reading/watching feel-good romance as well as scarier stories.
Also, I find fascinating the concept of soulmates, as if you
were naturally destined to a special someone.
All those books, movies and TV series I cherished inspired
the storyline of Twice Upon A Time. I chose the New Adult genre because
people between 18 and 25 are usually faced with new challenges and struggles to
make a life of their own. It can be confusing and thrilling at the same time,
just like it is for Rose and her friends.
And last but not least, this book pays tribute to France, my
country of birth, where I grew up and live now, and to my country of heart,
where I graduated with a master’s degree.
I hope you'll enjoy reading Twice Upon A Time as much
as I enjoyed writing it. It's pretty awesome to write a story that you've
always wanted to read.
